There's a lot of social media engagement at this time of year, and real estate professionals can get in on the action. While agents will typically like to keep it strictly professional on Facebook or Twitter, now is the time to get a little more creative.

One particularly engaging type of holiday social marketing these days is video, according to Small Business Trends. Making a video can be as simple as creating a slideshow of photos featuring clients in new homes thanks to real estate sales the agent facilitated throughout the year. A holiday message in front of a roaring fire or Christmas tree can be even more effective.

What to remember
The point of any professional posting on social media is largely to get it shared so as many people as possible can engage with it. The more shareable the content, the better off agents will be. That could include holiday well-wishes, but also contests with prizes from local shops or restaurants.

Start them early
When agents have plans to roll out contests or other content, encouraging people to share as soon as possible is always a good idea, especially as Christmas approaches, according to Constant Contact. Something like an offer of a free $5 gift card to a coffee shop for the first 10 people to share it can go a long way.

All an agent may need to do to boost engagement at this time of year is get a little more creative with their posts or generous with their offerings, especially because it's the season of giving.
