4 fun summer home design ideas

June 21, 2019

Decorating in the summer can be a lot of fun, and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

Here are four tips to do it right:

1) Make it colorful

This season is all about brightness, and your decor should reflect that, according to Freshome. That means swapping out blankets or pillows on the couch or the table cloth in the dining room with bold or pastel colors to make any living space feel just a little more vibrant.

2) Find an outdoor space

With so much nice weather and warm nights, it's a good idea to set up an outdoor space to hang out with family and friends. Putting out comfortable lawn chairs and other furniture, stringing up lights and so on is a great way to host everything from a big party to an intimate gathering.

3) Decorate with flowers and live plants

Another great way to add color is to head to the local florist or garden center, according to House Beautiful. Whether you're choosing bright flowers or big leafy plants, that addition can really brighten up a room, add a conversation piece and otherwise just help make any space feel a little more vibrant.

4) Find new window decor

You likely won't be drawing the curtains or blinds too much this summer, so replacing them with other window decor - or simply swapping the heavier, dark-colored curtains that are great for light, sheer options - can help any room feel brighter and more inviting.
